Wharepoke Falls

The track begins from the parking areas near the Kerikeri River Bridge in the Kerikeri Basin or from Rainbow Falls.

The Track follows the north bank of the river and passes through stands of young kauri, totara and associated native vegetation. Along the track, you pass the remains of a power house, built as part of a hydro-electric generation scheme which operated between 1930 and 1967.
The Wharepoke Falls and the larger Rainbow Falls tumble over basalt lava fields which flowed into the river valleys after volcanic eruptions.
